How much does an average travel nurse make year? How many hours do they work in a year?

Question by Yousef: How much does an averge travel nurse make year? How many hours do they work in a year?

Best answer:

Answer by Brenda
Well, there are a lot of variables. Different parts of the country make different wages.

Generally you will read that wages are $ 20-$ 40 per hour, but there are areas that make as much as $ 50 per hour.

You will also receive all of the other benefits to go along with that. Housing, health insurance, 401k, license reimbursement, travel reimbursement… but only with the right company. Not all of them have the same benefits.

Most contracts are for 13 weeks at 36-40 hours per week. Some will offer 48 hours per week guaranteed. Assignments can range from 4-26 weeks though with extensions possible.

Some nurses work full time with only short vacations. Some have such low expenses that they will work a 13 week assignment and take 1-2 months off before their next one.

That is one of the great things about travel nursing, you get to decide based on what you need or want to do.

Hope that helps. Travel nursing is not only fun, but can be a great learning experience, as well.

to work as a nurse here in oz you need to be registered ok ! www.sydneynurses.com.au you might find the australian web site link here , you can apply to be a nurses assisitant , lots of nursing homes use these kinda staff, at the moment most part time nursing staff have not ben able to get much work , there is a recession here 2 , you need to understand the different rules here regarding nurses , try and find an over seas job recruitment agency , I think one is called ” International Job Agency , good luck , nurses here get about 25-30 ausd permanent , and maybe a bit more casual , but get limited bonuses ( I think ) also you need to get a visa , if you show your qualifications at Australian embassy it might take amonth to get a 2 year visa , I think its one of the migration skills thats not effected by the down turn

Is it possible to be an international traveling nurse without prior work experience?

Question by : Is it possible to be an international traveling nurse without prior work experience?
I am a typical white, middle-class American male about to graduate from an accredited BSN program and all I want to do is travel (since I’ve never really been anywhere). I am aware that I need a valid RN license to practice no matter where I go, but I was wondering if there were any programs that offer international travel right after graduating/licensure. I am also aware that you need some clinical experience with nursing in order to prove that you can do the job, but to be honest I’m only 21 years old and I’m not ready to settle for a med-surg job in Whereverville, USA. I don’t care if it is a paid job or not, as long as it involves travel to a variety of countries and it is health-care related.

Does anyone know of any programs that allow someone to travel to third world countries and give them aid?

Question by Hi: Does anyone know of any programs that allow someone to travel to third world countries and give them aid?
I am 19 years old and am a student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. When I was in high school I took courses at a community college and became a certified nursing assistant and Phlebotomist. I hope to one day become a heart surgeon. I was wondering if there are any programs that allow someone to travel to third world countries and give them medical aid or some other types of aid. I am willing to pay to take the trip there (the third world country).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

the peace corp, this last semester a speaker came into one of my classes not to promote the peace corp but to inform us about it, i know this is true cause he was one of our teachers lol. he said that they prefer single college graduates, and the degree or certificate must be in something that can help like your nursing, you pick a few locations, they usually spend a year or so prepping you for the country like learning the language, they send you off for a few years, and gain great experiences. the speaker even met his wife at his location in Bulgaria, she was his foreign partner assigned by the peace corp.

Would you be happy with a nursing job that pays $35/hour plus a sign on bonus and covers travel expenses?

Question by : Would you be happy with a nursing job that pays /hour plus a sign on bonus and covers travel expenses?
Yes, I’m a male nurse. Please don’t laugh. It’s only for the time being while I work on my application for medical school. I just got this job offer. What do you think? I hate being an RN, but it’s a stepping stone to become a doctor. Thank you

Answer by Keran
I think that’s pretty good! Plus you’ll get experience and get to know people in the field.
Go for it!
If you want to become a doctor this is a step in the right direction.
